The choices for home decor can be overwhelming. So here are some questions to help you get started. The first question you might ask is, what kind of feeling do you want when you walk in the room.

You may decide that you want a different feeling for each room. Perhaps for the kitchen, you want cheery, stimulating, but a relaxing feeling to the place where you cook (and possibly dine). When you walk into the bedroom, you may want to feel a soft romantic tone to your bedroom. And as you make your way to the bathroom, you may like clean decorative accents to give your bathroom a fresh feeling.

Using a combination of lines colors and shapes, you can achieve each one of these looks. Red is a great stimulating color especially the kitchen. Blue and greens work well to calm in the bedroom, or living room.

Adding various shapes, such as ruffles or lace can give a more feminine, soft look. Hard treatments such as blinds and or honeycomb shades can give a more minimalist look to a living room or bedroom.

Consider any "lines" that are created throughout the space. Is there an overwhelming sense of verticals or horizontal lines? Look at the entire space, from the floor to the ceiling to get a sense of which way the eyes are drawn. Decide on a "focal point" for the room and work from there to blend your decor.

When deciding on your interior design- incorporate every aspect of the room. When you tackle the large architectural elements first then adding all of the smaller decorative accents will be an easy process. Either way, remember to have fun and enjoy your own unique style of decorating!
