Curtains should be cleaned regularly since they tend to dust. They also tend to accumulate a stale, offensive odor when neglected. Be sure to clean your curtains regularly in order to keep a fresh and inviting environment in your home.

Some Guidelines for cleaning curtains:

· Make sure to read the manufacturer’s guidelines before washing. Some fabrics are dry clean only.
· Inspect the backing on your curtains to check for signs of sun damage. Material that is falling apart will not hold up in the wash.
· It’s best to have lined curtains dry cleaned as linings are often more fragile than the rest of the fabric.
· If you don’t have time to wash, hang your curtains outside on a clothes line to air them out.
· You can freshen up your curtains by tossing them into the dryer for a few minutes. Add a fabric softener sheet for extra freshness.

In between washings, you can use your vacuum to keep the accumulated dust to a minimum. Select the lowest setting on your vacuum cleaner to keep the fabric from getting sucked in.

Curtains should have regular attention in order to prevent damage and odor. Clean your curtains regularly in damp environments as these might tend more towards mildew and even bacteria. Make sure that the products you use are color safe as well as free from harsh chemicals.
